Music video Review
The Gorillaz "On Melancholy Hill" music video by Scott Ruhl is a very creative delightful video. The concept starts with a seed that sprouts into a tree that has a couple sitting on it together. The color scheme of dull retro colors, with many greens and blues gives this video a calm feeling. The camera angles also give the video a quick fast pace feel and although the video is only 30 seconds it feels complete.

35mm Digital Film
After an April fools joke by the film company RE-35 a student from Hongik University designed a digital film concept. The concept replaces the film in the camera with a digital sensor that is hooked up to a memory card where the film use to be. The concept has not yet been brought to life but it would be interesting to see what happens to the 35mm camera market. Film had been on a steady downfall since digital cameras were introduced, perhaps companies like Kodak could start to manufacture this digital film so people can still use old vintage 35mm cameras. Even if it doesn't help the film industry I will still be one of the first people to buy this.

Favorite Flash Site
I'm not a huge fan of sites composed of mostly flash because they are usually slow and complicated, although a few people know how to use it well. One of my favorite flash sites is the site for actor Jim Carry http://www.jimcarrey.com/ . This site is mostly flash and instead of buttons the site features different icons from Jim's movies. The site is well designed, creative, and fits well with Jim's crazy personality.

Better than free, by Kevin Kelley
The article Better then Free, by Kevin Kelley is an interesting piece on the technological age and how it has effected the way business is conducted. He discusses the internet as a copy machine that runs on free downloads, uploads and digital data. He claims that in a free world there are still things people will pay for, 8 to be exact; immediacy, personalization, interpretation, authenticity, accessibility, embodiment, patronage, and findability. I would agree that in this new age of technology it is easier to get music and movies for free then it is to pay for them, and that this means people will have to come up with different ways to make money off their art.

Favorite Mulitmedia Site
Being a graphic design major I spend a lot of time online looking at multimedia sites. One of my favorite sites I use is www.stumbleupon.com. Although this site does not have multimedia on its home page, it offers a list of what you look for in a site such as art, video, and media. The site takes all the most currently popular sites and sends you there with the click of the stumbleupon button. I have found millions of free tutorials, free adobe plug ins, and much much more.
